Introduction
“Physics is a human attempt to discover the fundamental laws of nature and study their consequences. What drives a physicist is the curiosity about nature and the fact that the answers to various questions tie together in a nice pattern”.
1. Inception of Department:
The Department of Physics was established in year 2001. The department offers UG program in Physics, having well equipped spacious laboratories for conducting the practical and Research Work. The Objectives of the department is to Projecting the department as a center for Quality education, to Modernizing equipment’s and up-gradation of the facilities, to provide facilities and expertise for research work, to promote and motivate faculty to improve qualifications.
2. Advancement of the Department:
The Department of Physics started in year 2001 with UG program B.Sc.in Physics. Department organized one day National level Seminar on “National Seminar on Current Trends in Material Sciences (NSCTMS)” in the year 2011. Department Started Doctoral Research Programme, Ph. D. Course in Physics recognized by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati in year 2019.Department Organized One day University Level Webinar on “Post Graduation& Research Opportunities after Graduation” in year 2020. Department conducted the various curriculum activities like projects, seminars etc, which are essential for the development of the students and the institution.The department is striving to achieve academic excellence, it is the pride of the department that the students of the department achieve ranks in the University Examination. Majority of the students score 1st class & distinction in the University Examination. Department also encourages and guide the students to appear for various competitive examinations. The faculty is actively involved in the university curriculum designing & development at UG level,
As a social commitment, teachers and students of the department visit nearby villages to popularize & promote use of renewable energy sources, especially Solar Energy. During the visits, awareness is created about the pollution & climate change, efficient use of electrical home appliances & renewable energy utilizing devices such as solar cooker, solar drier, solar lantern and solar water heaters.
3. Present status:
The department has well equipped and Well Furnished laboratories with all modern facilities for performing fundamental and Electronics based experiments. Department has Ph. D. Course in Physics and having Recognized Research Center (RRC) of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University since 2019 having a capacity of Four Research Students. At present two students are pursuing Ph.D. Imperative areas of research are Renewable Energy- Solar Energy, Nanotechnology & Thin Films. The department has Research Laboratory with equipment and basic facilities for research work. The department also has modern Optics laboratory. The Department has highly qualified faculty members & enthusiastic Non-teaching staff. Faculties of the department working as a Member of Board of Studies and appointed as a Research Supervisor in subject of Physics of Sant Gadge Baba Amaravati University. The Faculties has published and present research Papers in International and National reputed Journals and Conferences. Faculty members of the department have published 50 papers in national/international journals & written 4 books.
